Washington D.C.- Solid shooting from behind the arc propels Lady Shock past Trinity University by a final score of 74-51.
Defensive pressure in the early minutes gave the Lady Shock momentum throughout the rest of the game. WAU dominated the boards 55-41 led by Olivia Turner (SR/Clinton, MD) with 16 and Courtney Jenkins (JR/Philadelphia, PA) with 12.
Although Trinity won the percentages from the free throw line 83% (10-12) while the Lady Shock shot 57% (4-7), WAU's shooting from the outside kept them ahead. Shooting 53% in the fourth quarter and 42% overall, the Lady Shock's offensive presence was led by Chynna Smith (FR/Silver Spring, MD) shooting 4-7 finishing with 12 points and Candice Berner (SO/Frederick, MD) 3-5 with 9 points.
The Lady Shock had four players reach double digits: Demyra Selby (SO/Salisbury, MD) had 12 points, Emily Piazza (SR/Newport News, VA) with 11, Chynna Smith with 12, and Olivia Turner led the way with 21 points. Lady Shock return to action at home in a double header against Apprentice at 2pm with the men's senior night game following at 4pm.
