Takoma Park, MD- The Washington Adventist University women's basketball team drops physical contest against The Apprentice School, 72-63.
Foul trouble and turnovers hurt the Lady Shock early on during the first half. With a deficit of only 5 points going into the second half, the Lady Shock battled back and even led the scores by 4 points. With 5 lead changes, the teams exchanged baskets, but the Lady Builders took control in the fourth quarter. Both teams tied for points in the paint and rebounds, but the Lady Builders forced 25 turnovers for the contest from the Lady Shock, and were able to capitalize for 19 points.
Ylexzis Traeger led the Lady Builders in scoring with 24 points. Three Lady Shock players finished in double digits: Olivia Turner (SR/Clinton, MD) led the way with 19 points, shooting 8-13 from the field. Demyra Selby (SO/Salisbury, MD) followed up with 17 points shooing 60% from the field (6-10) and dished out 5 assists, and Chynna Smith (FR/Silver Spring, MD) remained a strong presence from the outside shooting 50% from beyond the arc (4-8), for a total of 12 points.
The Lady Shock hit the road to New York for their final road contest against Nyack College Tuesday, at 7pm.
