Takoma Park, MD- The Washington Adventist University men's soccer team defeated Marymount University Wednesday evening by a final score of 3-1. The Shock extend their winning streak to two in a row with the win over the Saints.
In the first half, Kingsley Nwosu capitalized on a penalty kick from a foul that was called on the Saints to give the Shock the early 1-0 lead. The Shock controlled most of the half as the score remained 1-0 for nearly 20 minutes. In the last minute of the half the action picked up as the Saints netted a goal of their own to tie the score 1-1. With ten seconds left before halftime Daniel Moreira put away goal to give the Shock a 2-1 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, standout newcomer Klem Garcia etched his mark on the contest by netting the only goal scored in the second half to secure the 3-1 victory. The Shock held the advantage in shots for the contest 19-3 and corner kicks 8-4. Goalkeeper Reynero Pacheco finished the contest with two saves.
The Shock will return to action Oct. 3 when they host McDaniel College at 5 p.m.
