WAU Homecoming Weekend Set to Ignite with Men’s and Women’s Basketball Showdowns vs. Oakwood University

Takoma Park, MD – Washington Adventist University is gearing up for one of its most anticipated traditions of the year, Homecoming & Alumni Weekend, featuring the annual men's and women's basketball matchups against Oakwood University. The action-packed weekend will unite students, alumni, and fans in Takoma Park for an unforgettable celebration of faith, family, and school spirit. The exciting double-header matchup is set to take place on December 7, with the women's basketball game tipping off at 1:00 PM, followed by the men's game at 3:00 PM.

 

Homecoming at WAU isn't just about basketball; it's about community. Alumni from across the country will return to campus to reconnect, relive memories, and cheer on the Shock as both teams face off against long-time rivals, the Oakwood Ambassadors, in what's always a spirited and competitive series.

 

The WAU Women's Basketball Team will tip off first, looking to set the tone with their signature energy and defensive intensity. Under the leadership of Head Coach Jered Lyons, the Lady Shock continue to showcase their growth and commitment, ready to feed off the home crowd's energy.

 

Following the women's basketball game, Acro-Airs Head Coach Delonte Bruce will lead the Acro-Airs in a spectacular performance. Known for their high-flying stunts and athleticism, the Acro-Airs' performance is sure to captivate the crowd.

 

Immediately following, the WAU Men's Basketball Team, led by Head Coach Jerry McFarland, will take center stage for the nightcap. Known for their fast-paced play and relentless effort, the Shock are determined to make this Homecoming game one to remember.

 

Beyond the games, Alumni Weekend will feature a full slate of activities designed to celebrate the spirit of Washington Adventist University, including worship services, alumni socials, the highly anticipated Homecoming Court presentation, and in-game recognitions.

 

WAU Athletics invites all students, alumni, and fans to wear their Shock gear, pack the stands, and make some noise as the Shock defend their home territory against Oakwood.
