Washington Adventist University Men’s Basketball Announces Exciting 2023-2024 Season Schedule

TAKOMA PARK, MD - Get ready to witness an action-packed season filled with fast-paced hoops and electrifying performances as Washington Adventist University's Men's Basketball team unveils their highly anticipated 2023-2024 season schedule. Head Coach Jerry McFarland and his skilled squad are geared up to face off against some of the toughest opponents in collegiate basketball, promising an unforgettable journey for fans and players alike.

 

SCHEDULE PREVIEW

 

The season tips off in style with an exhilarating home game opener against #11 St. Thomas University, led by the Shock's former head men's basketball coach and athletic director, Patrick Crarey, on October 26. The atmosphere at the Pitt will be electric as basketball enthusiasts eagerly turn out to cheer on their local heroes. The 2013-2014 Men's Basketball Championship team will be recognized for their achievement after the game. This early rivalry clash will set the tone for the upcoming season and showcase the team's new talent and refined strategies.

 

Following this, the Shock will embark on a series of inviting non-conference match-ups against strong opponents. On October 28, they will host Oakwood University for the biggest athletic event of the year, WAU Homecoming. This match-up promises to be an early test of the Shockwave's skills and will give us a glimpse of what they have in store for the season.

 

The team packs their bags for a multi-state road trip as the winter chill sets in. The season intensifies when they visit the Nittany Lions of Penn State Beaver and Penn State Shenango on November 4th and 5th for the BSC Buffalo Kickoff Classic in Buffalo, NY. The Shock will travel to Mount Vernon, Ohio, to face Taylor and Mount Vernon Nazarene on November 10th and 11th for the Mt. Vernon Nazarene Classic.

 

WAU will host Point Park at The Pitt on November 13 before they head on the road again for a six-game road swing facing WVU Tech on November 15, Bluefield on November 16, Indiana East on November 19, Bryant & Stratton-Rochester on November 25, Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse on November 26, and Georgetown College on December 2.

 

December holds a light slate of games for the Shock. WAU will host Notre Dame College on December 18 at the Pitt. 

 

The excitement builds as the Shock travel to Winston-Salem, NC, for a doubleheader face-off with Carolina University on January 10. WAU will remain on the road facing Berkeley College on January 10 and Cheyney University on January 17.

 

The Shock will close January on a high note as they return to the friendly confines of their home court and take on the formidable Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse on January 20.

 

As the regular season reaches its climax, conference play heats up with a series of thrilling match-ups against formidable opponents within the Continental Athletic Conference (CAC). Notable conference battles to circle on your calendars include match-ups against Haskell Indian Nations, Wilberforce, Voorhees University, Fisher College, and Morris College.

 

Coach McFarland and his talented squad are determined to conclude the season with a bang and bring home glory for Washington Adventist University. Under his leadership, the team has worked tirelessly to fine-tune their skills, develop chemistry, and embrace the challenges ahead.

The WAU Athletic Department is excited to announce that it has partnered with HomeTown Ticketing, Inc. to move all ticketing operations online for the 2023-2024 athletics season.

 

To purchase home game tickets, fans can visit the WAU Game Ticketing website (wauathletics.com/ticketing). Once you buy a ticket, you can print or save it to your mobile device. To gain entry to the event, you must be able to provide either the printed ticket or show the ticket on your mobile device.

 

WAU Students, Faculty, and staff will be free and sent season passes via email. You will need to show your WAU ID at the entrance to the stadium to gain access to home games for the 2023-2024 season.
