WAU Men's Basketball Falls to Point Park, 79-67

TAKOMA PARK, MD - WAU men's basketball (3-4) dropped a hard-fought battle to Point Park University (6-0) on Monday night at The Pitt.

 

The Pioneers scored the opening two buckets with a made free-throw and three-pointer, but the Shock quickly responded with two made free-throws by Mohamed Bundu. Despite the Shock's strong defensive presence forcing 12 turnovers in the first half, the Pioneers maintained control, shooting an impressive 92.3% on 12-of-13 from the charity stripe. WAU shot 2-of-7, and Point Park shot 5-of-13 from behind the arc, contributing to the 13-point halftime deficit.

 

The Pioneers cooled off in the second half, shooting 2-of-7 from behind the arc, allowing the Shock to close the lead. Instead, WAU caught fire, going 12-of-29 from the field, bringing the game within six points.

 

Point Park maintained control, continuing to dominate at the free-throw line. The Pioneers shot 10-of-13 from the charity in the second half to seal the 79-67 victory.

 

WAU finished 38.1 percent from the field and 25 percent from behind the arc. The Pioneers outrebounded the Shock 48-31, with thirty-four defensive rebounds. WAU forced Point Park into 19 turnovers, converting into 17 Shock points.

 

James Lee led the Shock in scoring, finishing with 15 points, seven rebounds, and a game-high six steals, and Mohamed Bundu finished with 12 points and six rebounds.
