WAU Men’s Basketball Secures First Win of Season with 70-58 Victory Over Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo at Bobcat Bash Tournament
Buffalo, NY – The Washington Adventist University (WAU) men's basketball team clinched their first win of the season with an impressive 70-58 victory over Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo on Sunday, November 10, at the Bobcat Bash Tournament hosted by Bryant & Stratton Buffalo. After a challenging start to the season, the Shock found their rhythm, showing strong teamwork and determination to claim the win.
The game began with multiple lead changes, as Rande Harper and Seth Wright led the offense with effective shooting and decisive plays. Their efforts helped WAU challenge the Bobcats with the home crowd advantage, but Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo managed to maintain a slight 27-26 lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Shock's defense was pivotal in holding off Bryant & Stratton-Buffalo, forcing turnovers and making key stops to take the lead while holding the Bobcats to just 31 points. WAU's Harper continued to make an impact with critical rebounds and timely assists, while Chase Cooke added essential points in the closing minutes to solidify the win.
The Shock shot 43.3 percent (26-of-60) from the field, forcing the Tigers into 21 turnovers. Harper led all scorers, finishing with 22 points, five rebounds, four steals, and three assists, while Wright and Cooke followed with 14 points each.
Anthony Perry (7), Jalen Anderson (5), Julian King (4), James Quinn (2), and Niels Rohder (2) all found the scoring column. Nine Shock players saw time on the floor in the 70-58 win.
With this victory, the WAU men's basketball team improves to 1-4 on the season and will aim to carry their winning form into their upcoming matchup facing Clinton College on Wednesday, November 13.
