WAU Men’s Basketball Falls to Clinton College 96-87 in High-Scoring Road Match
Rock Hill, SC—Despite a strong offensive performance, the Washington Adventist University (WAU) men's basketball team fell short on Wednesday, November 13, falling to Clinton College 96-87 on the road. The game was a fast-paced, high-scoring affair, with both teams showcasing their offensive firepower.
WAU started the game with intensity, with Jaziel Mensah-Agyekum leading the scoring effort early, sinking key shots for 14 first-half points, and helping the Shock keep pace with Clinton's aggressive play. By halftime, WAU led by a narrow 52-49 margin, as both teams traded baskets and capitalized on scoring opportunities.
In the second half, Clinton College created separation with a series of successful runs, pushing the pace and keeping WAU's defense on its heels. Despite WAU's best efforts to close the gap, with Rande Harper and Anthony Perry adding crucial points and contributing on both ends of the court, Clinton held off the Shock's late-game rally to secure the 96-87 win.
The Shock shot 48 percent (36-of-75) from the field, with ten of its makes coming from long range. Mensah-Agyekum led the Shock in scoring, finishing with 21 points and three rebounds, while Jalen Anderson followed with 16 points, five rebounds, four steals, and one assist.
Perry (12), Harper (10), Seth Wright (9), Julian King (7), Jaylin McNeil (6), Chase Cooke (4), and Armon Williams (2) also found the scoring column. Wright led the team in rebounding, grabbing nine boards for the Shock. Nine Shock players saw time on the floor.
With this defeat, WAU falls to 1-5 on the season. The Shock will look to bounce back in their next game as they continue their road stretch, facing USC Aiken on Thursday, November 14, in Aiken, SC.
