WAU Men's Basketball Falls to Lindsey Wilson College, 74-91
COLUMBIA, KY — The Washington Adventist University (WAU) men's basketball team faced a tough road test on Saturday, January 4, falling 74-91 to Lindsey Wilson College in a competitive matchup. Despite a strong effort, the Shock could not overcome the offensive firepower of their NAIA opponent.
WAU started the game with energy, keeping pace with Lindsey Wilson in the opening minutes. Guard play and a series of well-executed drives allowed the Shock to stay within striking distance at halftime, trailing 44-46. Anthony Perry, Chase Cooke, and Felix McGhee combined for 36 first-half points, all contributing double-figures. However, the second half saw Lindsey Wilson pull away, using a combination of efficient scoring (56.7% FG) and dominance on the boards to widen the gap and seal the victory.
Leading the way for WAU was Perry, who scored 21 points and added nine rebounds. The Shock also saw contributions from Cooke, who provided 16 points, seven rebounds, four steals, two assists, and two blocks. McGhee (12), Jalen Anderson (9), Julian King (9), James Quinn (5), and Seth Wright (2) also found the scoring column. Seven Shock players saw time on the floor. Despite the loss, WAU showed flashes of their potential, demonstrating resilience and teamwork against a tough opponent.
The loss drops WAU to 3-8 on the season. The Shock will look to bounce back as they quickly turn around to face NAiA opponent, Georgetown College on Sunday, January 5 in Georgetown, KY.
