WAU Men's Soccer Falls to Goldey-Beacom College 3-2

WILMINGTON, DE - It was a tough battle on the field as WAU men's soccer (6-2, 0-0) faced Goldey-Beacom College in Delaware on Wednesday, September 13. Sadly, the Shock couldn't maintain their three-game winning streak, falling short in a close 3-2 defeat.

 

Both teams brought their A-game from the first whistle, determined to claim victory. WAU showed off their impressive skills, displaying great agility and ball control. However, the Lightning proved to be a worthy adversary, matching the Shock's intensity with its own fierce attacks.

 

The match started with Goldey-Beacom College quickly taking control of the game. Their offensive tactics paid off when they found the back of the net in the 15th minute, taking an early lead. The WAU defense struggled to contain the home team's relentless pressure, but the Shock didn't back down. They regrouped and began to push forward, searching for an equalizer. Their determination was rewarded when striker Lucas Fazzolari found the net in the 34th minute, bringing the score level 1-1. 

 

As halftime approached, both teams intensified their efforts. Goldey-Beacom College, determined to regain its lead, launched assault after assault at the WAU goal. Although the Shock defense fought valiantly, Goldey-Beacom's relentless pressure managed to break through, scoring in the 44th minute. The hosts took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

 

The second half began with the Shock searching for an equalizer. They pressed forward, searching for opportunities to score. The Lightning's defense, however, stood firm, making it difficult for WAU to find the back of the net. The game became intensely physical, with both teams battling for every loose ball.

 

In the 51st minute, Goldey-Beacom College delivered a massive blow by scoring their third goal, extending their lead to 3-1. However, the Shock refused to give up. They poured their hearts into every play, desperately fighting to close the gap.

 

Their determination paid off in the 78th minute when midfielder Marlon Rodriguez scored a stunning goal, bringing the score to 3-2. The WAU bench erupted in cheers, hoping for a late comeback. However, time ran out for the Shock, and the final whistle blew with Goldey-Beacom College claiming victory.
