Boston, MA – Washington Adventist University (WAU) men's soccer team played to a hard-fought 1-1 tie against Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) rival Fisher College on September 29, 2024, in Boston, MA. In a closely contested match, both teams showcased strong defense, leaving the game deadlocked at the final whistle.
WAU struck first, minutes before halftime, in the 44th minute when Ben Cooksley capitalized on a pass from Lucas Fazzolari and slotted a cross from outside of the box past the Fisher goalkeeper, giving the Shock an early 1-0 lead. The Shock's defense and goalkeeper Gregorio Capponi, held firm throughout the first half, maintaining their narrow advantage going into halftime.
Fisher College came out aggressive in the second half, pressing forward in search of an equalizer. Their efforts paid off in the 80th minute when they found the back of the net to level the score at 1-1.
Both teams battled intensely for the remainder of the match, but neither could break the deadlock. WAU had a few late chances to retake the lead, with Marcos Hernandez and Kevin Miranda Cortez coming close, but the Fisher defense held strong.
