WAU Men’s Soccer Falls on the Road to Bluefield State, 3–1

Bluefield, VA – Washington Adventist University men's soccer struck first but could not hold off a strong Bluefield State attack, falling 3–1 on the road Thursday afternoon.

The Shock wasted no time finding the back of the net. In the 7th minute, Victor Perez finished a chance set up by Kemoi Jones, giving WAU an early 1–0 advantage. The goal marked Perez's first of the season and provided a spark for the visitors.

Bluefield answered just minutes later when Aden Chavez scored in the 11th minute to level the match at 1–1. Chavez struck again in the 20th minute, assisted by Juan Soto and Landon Puckett, as the hosts seized a 2–1 lead.

Despite a strong save from WAU goalkeeper Michael Delcid in the 17th minute, Chavez completed his hat trick in the 33rd minute, extending the margin to 3–1. The Shock entered halftime trailing by two.

WAU regrouped defensively after the break, limiting Bluefield's opportunities while creating several chances of their own. Nicholas Vega, Kemoi Jones, and Perez each recorded shots, with Jones forcing a save in the 66th minute. The Shock also earned a pair of corners from Daniel Hirsch, but could not break through Bluefield's back line.

Delcid turned in another solid performance in goal, registering multiple saves in the second half to keep the scoreline from widening. However, the early deficit proved too much to overcome as WAU was held scoreless after Perez's opener.
