WAU Men’s Soccer Battles Late but Falls 4–2 to Pitt-Johnstown

Takoma Park, Md. – Washington Adventist University men's soccer showed resilience in the second half but couldn't overcome a slow start, falling 4–2 to Pitt-Johnstown at the WAU Turf Field on Sunday.
 
The Shock fell behind early when an own goal in the 5th minute gave Pitt-Johnstown a 1–0 advantage. The visitors doubled their lead in the 18th minute with a finish from Noah Pawling, assisted by Pau Cano. WAU goalkeeper Michael Delcid worked tirelessly, making several key saves, but Pitt-Johnstown extended the margin in the 31st minute when Jaeger James converted a penalty kick, sending WAU into halftime trailing 3–0.
 
Pitt-Johnstown stretched the lead to 4–0 in the 53rd minute behind a strike from Pau Cano, but WAU refused to fold. In the 71st minute, Victor Perez put the Shock on the board with a composed finish to make it 4–1. He struck again in the 88th minute, converting a penalty kick to notch his second goal of the day and bring WAU back within two.
 
Despite the strong finish, the Shock ran out of time to complete the comeback.
