Men’s Soccer Falls to Goucher College 4–2 in Takoma Park

Takoma Park, MD – Washington Adventist University Men's Soccer came out strong in their Tuesday night matchup but ultimately fell 4–2 to visiting Goucher College at the WAU Turf Field.

The Gophers struck first in the 8th minute when Jonathan Adima finished inside the box to put Goucher ahead 1–0. The Shock responded quickly, equalizing in the 12th minute off a header from Misgana Feleke, assisted by a pinpoint corner kick from Steven Bonilla Rodriguez.

Momentum continued to swing in WAU's favor when Victor Perez scored in the 21st minute, slotting home a chance created by Feleke to give the Shock a 2–1 lead. However, the Gophers answered immediately, leveling the match at 2–2 through a penalty kick goal from Andres Aristimuno just one minute later.

The second half belonged to Goucher. In the 48th minute, Elliot Bezdek converted on an assist from Bryan Machado to reclaim the lead. Despite several saves from WAU goalkeeper Michael Delcid, who tallied double-digit stops on the night, Goucher extended their advantage in the 77th minute when Drew Gentile scored from close range off a setup by D'Angelo Reyes.

Washington Adventist continued to press in search of a comeback, recording late efforts from Perez and Kemoi Jones, but the Gophers' defense and goalkeeper Ale Sternini (who registered multiple key saves) held firm.
