TAKOMA PARK, MD – The Washington Adventist University (WAU) women's basketball team closed out the WAU CAC Classic on a high note, defeating Florida National University 84-76 on Sunday, January 19, at The Pitt. The Shock's dynamic offense and resilience in key moments propelled them to their second victory of the weekend.

In the first half, the game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading baskets and showcasing their offensive firepower. WAU relied on a balanced attack, led by standout performances from Deryanis Colon Velez, who scored a game-high 20 points, and Isabela Lujan-Gonzales, who led with 9 assists and added eleven points. The Shock entered halftime with a comfortable lead, 44-32.

Florida National mounted a strong push in the second half, outscoring the Shock 25-15, but WAU's defensive adjustments and clutch shooting from beyond the arc secured the win in the fourth quarter. Tye Queen was instrumental down the stretch, hitting pivotal layups to seal the victory.

Colon Velez spearheaded the attack with a team-high 20 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists. At the same time, center Tye Queen contributed 16 points and six rebounds.
