TAKOMA PARK, MD - On Sunday, September 17, WAU women's soccer (1-1) experienced a tough defeat in their match against Point Park University, with a final score of 10-1. The game, which took place at the Shock's home field, was a challenging test for the Washington Adventist Lady Shock'a home opener.
The game started with high spirits and determination from both teams as the Pioneers agreed to an 8v8 match to accommodate the Shock's nine-woman roster. Although WAU fought hard in the first few minutes, Point Park quickly took control of the game and displayed exceptional teamwork and skills. Their confident play allowed them to create numerous scoring opportunities.
WAU opened the scoring for the night as Katharina Blume scored in the 12th minute with an assist from Leslie Salvador. However, Point Park displayed dominance throughout the first half by efficiently converting their opportunities into goals. Their relentless attacks showcased their solid offensive abilities. WAU managed to net a goal during the match, displaying their resilience and refusing to let their spirits dwindle. Despite the eventual defeat, scoring against a well-organized and well-coached team demonstrates the potential and talent present in the Shock squad.
