WAU Women’s Volleyball Back on Top with a 3-0 Win Over Rosemont College

Rosemont, PA – The Washington Adventist University (WAU) women's volleyball team ended their three-game losing streak in dominant fashion, defeating Rosemont College 3-0 on September 19, 2024. The Shock delivered a strong performance on the road, controlling the match from start to finish and earning their first win in nearly two weeks.

 

WAU emerged energized in the opening set, establishing an early lead behind sharp serves and powerful attacks. Samiah Gross led the offensive charge with several key kills, while Jordyn Stafford orchestrated the offense with precision. The Shock took the first set comfortably, winning 25-15, as their defense and net play stifled Rosemont's attack.

 

The second set saw WAU maintain their momentum. Solid defensive efforts from Candace Kapualani Cabansag and Chanel Schmidt helped keep Rosemont's offense in check. WAU continued to execute well, winning the second set 25-14 and taking full control of the match.

 

Determined to secure the win, WAU put together a complete team effort in the third set. Ashley Green delivered crucial serves that solidified the Shock's rhythm, while Ariyanna Gross dominated at the net. The Shock completed the sweep with a 25-16 win in the final set, sealing a 3-0 victory.

 

Ariyanna Gross was instrumental for WAU, leading the team with nine kills and six aces, while Stafford contributed eleven assists. Samiah Gross provided thirteen digs and seven kills, anchoring the defense, and Cabansag contributed nine digs and three assists.

 

"Tonight was about us getting back on top," said WAU coach Anastasia Allen. "We were able to focus on our fundamentals and get a good attack on the ball. Very proud of this group, and looking forward to our next match on Tuesday"

 

The win improves WAU's record to 3-3, 0-0, and they will look to build on this victory as they prepare for their next match against Trinity Washington on September 24. The Shock are eager to carry this momentum forward as they continue their 2024 season.
