WAU Women’s Volleyball Defeats Christendom 3-1, Secures Best Start in Program History
Takoma Park, MD – Washington Adventist University (WAU) women's volleyball continued their historic run, defeating Christendom College 3-1 on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at home in Takoma Park, MD. With this victory, the Shock secured their best start in program history, improving their record to 5-3.
Both teams came out strong in the first set, showing dominance at the net with powerful kills and solid defense. After several entertaining volleys, Christendom took the opening set 25-22.
The Shock fought back in the second set, pushing Christendom with strong play and powerful serving to secure the 25-22 victory, leveling the match at 1-1.
The third set proved to be the most competitive set of the night. Both teams capitalized off of errors and distributed powerful hits. Determined to defend their home court, the Shock showcased their endurance in front of the home crowd. Jordyn Stafford expertly distributed the ball, leading WAU to a 27-25 win, and putting them one set away from victory.
The fourth and final set saw WAU deliver a commanding performance, dominating Christendom 25-18 with a combination of strong serves, well-timed blocks, and relentless attacks. Samiah Gross delivered several key kills to secure the 3-1 win for the Shock.
With their best start in school history, WAU looks to carry their winning form into their next match against Montgomery College on Thursday, September 26 in Rockville, MD.
