WAU Volleyball Sweeps Cheyney in Straight Sets
Cheyney, Pa. – The Washington Adventist University volleyball team opened the road portion of its schedule with a commanding 3-0 sweep of Cheyney University on Wednesday evening. Behind a balanced offensive attack and aggressive serving, the Shock controlled the match from start to finish.
Senior Samiah Gross and senior Ariyanna Gross led the way at the net. Samiah tallied 9 kills and added 2 service aces for a team-high 11 points, while Ariyanna put down 7 kills and contributed 3 aces, finishing with 10 points.
Adding to the offensive surge, Zabria Fakeye chipped in 4 kills and an ace, while Eden Perkins posted 3 kills and an ace. The Shock totaled 23 kills as a team, keeping consistent pressure on the Wolves' defense.
WAU's aggressive serving made a major impact, piling up 11 aces on the night. Alongside the Gross sisters, Jade Rios was a key contributor from the service line with 3 aces, while Fakeye, Perkins, and Jordyn Stafford each added one.
Rios directed the offense with 2 assists, while Stafford anchored with 6 assists and a service ace. Defensively, Fakeye recorded the team's lone block assist, and WAU kept rallies alive with steady play across the board.
