Shock Volleyball Sweeps Trinity Washington on the Road
Washington, D.C. – The Washington Adventist University volleyball team delivered a commanding performance Tuesday night, defeating Trinity Washington University 3-0 at the Trinity Center in Washington, DC. The Shock controlled the match from start to finish, using strong serving and timely attacks to secure the straight-set victory.
WAU opened the match with composure, weathering an early push from Trinity before pulling ahead late in the first set. Ariyanna Gross sparked the offense with key kills, while Jade Rios and Jordyn Shaeffer combined for service aces to keep the Shock in rhythm. The Shock closed the set on a 5-1 run, capped by a Rios ace, to take it 25-21.
The second set proved the most competitive of the night, with both teams trading points deep into extra play. WAU leaned on its balance as Samiah Gross provided consistent kills, while Zabria Fakeye made her presence felt at the service line with back-to-back aces that swung momentum. Tied at 25, the Shock showed composure, sealing the frame with consecutive points to win 27-25 and take a two-set lead.
The Shock left no doubt in the third set, racing out to a 6-1 advantage and never looking back. Eden Perkins and Ariyanna Gross anchored the attack, while Shaeffer and Lynell White sparked a dominant serving stretch that put the game out of reach. Perkins sealed the win with consecutive service aces, as WAU secured the sweep with a decisive 25-13 victory.
