WAU Volleyball Sweeps Trinity Washington in Dominant Home Victory
Takoma Park, Md. – The Washington Adventist University volleyball team delivered a commanding performance on Tuesday night, sweeping Trinity Washington University 3–0 inside The Pitt. The Shock controlled the tempo from start to finish, capturing their first home win of the season in straight sets (25–13, 25–23, 25–12).
WAU wasted no time setting the tone early, using a 10–1 run behind strong serving from Jordyn Shaeffer, who tallied two service aces and a kill during the stretch. Zabria Fakeye and Ariyanna Gross fueled the attack with a combined five kills, while Lynell White anchored the offense with precise setting. The Shock's balanced play overwhelmed the Tigers, taking the opening frame 25–13.
Trinity came out stronger in the second set, jumping to a 9–2 lead before WAU mounted a comeback. Candace Kapualani Cabansag sparked the rally with back-to-back kills and a service ace, trimming the deficit to one. Ariyanna Gross added consecutive aces to tie the set at 16–16, and later delivered clutch kills down the stretch. Tied at 23–23, Lynell White sealed the comeback with a service ace followed by a block assist to give WAU a thrilling 25–23 win.
The Shock dominated the final set from the opening serve. Eden Perkins opened with two kills and an ace as WAU surged to a 5–0 lead. Cabansag followed with an impressive serving run of her own, racking up four straight aces to put the match out of reach. Gross, Fakeye, and White each added finishing touches as WAU closed the match 25–12 to complete the sweep.
