RICHMOND, VA — The WAU men's and women's cross country teams finished their first 8k and 5k races of the season at the Virginia Union University Fall Cross Country Opener at Joseph Bryan Park in Richmond, VA, on September 15, 2023.

For the men, freshman Rueben Kirkham finished 16th with a time of 35:23.8, senior Gabriel Sanchez finished 18th with a time of 35:48.0, and senior Tafara Madhovi finished 30th with a time of 50:09.1.

For the women, junior Charis McRoy finished 16th with a time of 27:49.9, junior Mary Alao finished 18th with a time of 28:00.0, and senior Marcela De Oliveira finished 23rd with a time of 30:43.4
