WAU Rolls Past PSU Shenango in 74-55 Victory

BUFFALO, NY - Four starters recorded double figures to lift WAU (3-1) over Penn State Shenango (0-3) in Sunday's Buffalo, NY game for night two of the Bobcat Kickoff Classic.

 

The Nittany Lions scored the opening bucket, but the Shock responded quickly with a made 3-pointer by Michael Brown following a pair of free-throws by James Lee, setting the tone and giving WAU the last lead change for the night. WAU led by as much as 10 points in the first half.

 

WAU controlled the first 20 minutes, shooting 80% from the charity stripe, giving WAU a slight 30-22 advantage going into halftime.

 

At the start of the second half, the Shock kept their momentum, pushing the lead to as much as 21 points. However, WAU limited PSU Shenango's possessions, outrebounding them 22-20 and forcing nine turnovers in the last 20 minutes of the game, giving the Shock the 74-55 victory.

 

WAU finished 41.9 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the charity stripe. The Shock converted 22 points off turnovers and forced the Nittany Lions into 15 turnovers.

 

The Shock finished with four players in double figures. Mohamed Bundu and Brown led the Shock in scoring, finishing with 12 points; Xzavaier Hawkins recorded a double-double, finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds; and Lee finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
