Shock Volleyball Dominates Home Opener Against Chesapeake Community College
TAKOMA PARK, MD – The Washington Adventist University volleyball team opened its home slate in style Wednesday night, sweeping Chesapeake Community College 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-19) at The Pitt.
The Shock wasted no time energizing the home crowd, jumping out early behind aggressive serving from Ariyanna Gross and steady play at the net from Samiah Gross and Lynell White. Midway through the first set, Jade Rios took over at the service line, reeling off four consecutive aces to put WAU firmly in control. The Shock closed the frame with authority, 25-13.
The second set brought more resistance from Chesapeake, but WAU showed poise in its home opener. Zabria Fakeye and Eden Perkins added sparks offensively, while Gross and Fakeye combined to give the Shock balance at the net. A late serving run helped WAU pull away and lock down the set 25-19.
With the home crowd behind them, WAU kept its momentum rolling in the third set. Shaeffer and Fakeye provided timely kills, while Perkins added back-to-back service aces to extend the lead. Chesapeake rallied late, but WAU sealed the sweep with a decisive 25-19 finish.
The Shock's serving attack proved the difference, tallying multiple aces in each set while keeping Chesapeake off balance.
