WASHINGTON, DC - The WAU men's soccer team (5-1, 0-0) delivered an unforgettable performance on September 6, 2023, shutting out Gallaudet University (0-3, 0-0) with an impressive 12-0 victory. 

From the get-go, the Shock made it clear that they were here to win. They applied relentless pressure and executed strategic ball movement to gain control early on. Their strikers effortlessly broke through the Bison's defense, catching them off-guard and quickly establishing a commanding lead 6-0 lead in the first 45 minutes.

Throughout the match, fans marveled in person and on the live stream at the exceptional finishing skills displayed by the Shock. They capitalized on numerous goal-scoring opportunities with precision, technique, and coordination – resulting in a series of breathtaking goals.

While their impressive goal tally took center stage, let us not overlook WAU's defense's unwavering resilience and unity. Their unbreakable solidarity consistently denied the Bison any chances to create scoring opportunities. Maintaining a clean sheet played a significant role in their comprehensive victory.

This victory over Gallaudet University showcased remarkable teamwork and coordination among each member of the formidable WAU men's soccer squad. On-field communication was second nature for these players as they timed their passes perfectly and moved harmoniously to exploit the Bison's defensive weaknesses. The strong chemistry amongst the Shock was a driving force behind their impressive triumph.

Although soccer is undoubtedly a team sport, individual brilliance often shines through during critical moments. Throughout the game, several players from WAU showcased exceptional skills that created magical moments on the field. These displays of individual brilliance opened up scoring opportunities and extended their already considerable lead.

Captain Aguer Dau led the night with four goals, Federico Bushi scored three, Bartu Yakkan and Marlon Rodriguez scored two, and Ben Cooksley scored one. Giovanni Torrente let the night with three assists, and Riku Kawano, Cooksley, George Tidmarsh, Marcus Lloyd, Rodriguez, Stanley Pagett, and Eduardo Fontes recorded one.

In addition to their exceptional performance, the Shock demonstrated remarkable sportsmanship and respect towards their opponents and officials, ending the match with no penalties. 

The Washington Adventist men's soccer team's resounding 12-0 victory over Gallaudet University will be remembered as another defining moment in the Shock's season run. The WAU Athletic Department is excited to announce that it has partnered with HomeTown Ticketing, Inc. to move all ticketing operations online for the 2023-2024 athletics season.

To purchase home game tickets, fans can visit the WAU Game Ticketing website (wauathletics.com/ticketing). Once you buy a ticket, you can print or save it to your mobile device. To gain entry to the event, you must be able to provide either the printed ticket or show the ticket on your mobile device.

WAU Students, Faculty, and staff will be free and sent season passes via email. You will need to show your WAU ID at the entrance to the stadium to gain access to home games for the 2023-2024 season.

Severe Weather Policies

In the event of severe weather at one of our outdoor facilities, a public address announcement will be made, and WAU athletics staff will provide all participants and spectators with further instructions.

Lightning: If lightning is present, play will be halted for 30 minutes from the most recent strike detected. All spectators must leave the seating area of any outdoor venue. It is recommended that all spectators seek shelter in the nearest building or inside personal vehicles.
